Academy of Citizen Journalism

The project plans to

Address the negative effects of intensified anti-democratic, anti-humanistic and anti-western propaganda in the context of low level of journalist literacy among citizen journalists (bloggers, vloggers, podcasters and social media commentators). Moreover we plan to increase the grassroots activism by mobilizing youth to engage in monitoring the public processes by doing citizen journalist activity.

During this project we will run 3 separate complete course sessions for 90 youth citizen journalists made out of three components:

  1. Theoretical literacy - that will include: knowledge about propaganda/disinformation, journalist ethics, and operation with data, elaborating the blogs/vlogs and other online media platforms and promotion.

  2. Practical exercise – couched practical exercises run by professional citizen journalists specialized in blogging/vlogging/podcasting and social media.

  3. Applied work – the participants will develop their own media platform during the project that will be launched and presented at the end of the educational program.

  4. Employment - the project also envisions a strong employment component that will help them be professionally more engaged and financially more autonomous.
